Problem
I am trying to open a scanned text file into SPSS, but all I get are a series of Warning messages referencing an "invalid numeric character." When I try importing the file by either clicking on FILE->OPEN->DATA, or FILE->READ TEXT DATA, I see funny characters in the first data cell and no data. Why isn't SPSS reading this data file?
