Troubleshooting
Problem
User-created configuration artifacts such as edge firewall rules, IPSEC tunnels, DHCP Pools, custom routes, virtual applications, organization networks, catalogs, vApp templates, media files, independent disks prevent the deletion of a Virtual Data Center.
Symptom
When trying to delete the Virtual Data Center instance by using the IBM Cloud portal, you see the following message:
"You must remove all vApps, templates, media, disks, catalogs, and networks attached to this vdc before you can delete it"
Cause
This message occurs when artifacts exist in this Virtual Data Center that prevent it from being deleted.
Environment
IBM Cloud for VMware Solutions Shared
Diagnosing The Problem
Connect to your IBM Cloud for VMware Solutions Shared Virtual Data Center instance via its management portal, and check for the existence of any existing artifacts that prevent the VDC from being purged.
Resolving The Problem
If you have multiple Virtual Data Centers in your environment, you can get a summarized view from the main Datacenters page for each of the VDCs.
The VDC card gives you a quick view of Virtual Applications (vApps) and Virtual Machines (VMs) deployed on the VDC and any storage used by the VDC.
You can click the target VDC's card to access more details.
Here are examples of items that need to be removed:
