"Unable to connect to host" and "< IP Address> does not correspond to a registered Query Server" messages with Cognos Query

Troubleshooting


Problem

When trying to use Cognos Query, we get a generic "Application Error" message displayed. Investigating the cqserver.log file shows: Error 0 : Unable to connect to host: on port: 25000. Error 0 : Unable to connect to host: on port: 25001. Or Error 0 : The IP address: getanother=.###.###.##, does not correspond to a registered Query Server. NOTE: Notice the incomplete IP Address provided in the error message.
