Troubleshooting
Problem
An "Error during 'Pre-Install Configure' Phase" message comes up when installing an Interim Fix.
Symptom
Steps:
1. From the Installation Manager, go to File menu, select "Add Repository" under the "Preferences" menu.
2. Add the repository for an IFIX. For example: MIF_7604_IFIX.20161115-1328.im.zip.
3. Click the "Apply" button. Click the "OK" button.
4. Click the "Update" icon to apply the IFIX.
 5. The Update process commences. The progress bar is displayed. 6. After approximately 1 minute, an error occurs: "Error during 'Pre-Install Configure' Phase".  7. Click on the "View Log File" link. The XML file shows the error below: <entry num='644' time='1484715700180' elapsed='01:00.73' level='ERROR' thread='Worker-1'> <logger>com.ibm.cic.common.logging.LogManager</logger> <class>org.eclipse.equinox.log.internal.ExtendedLogReaderServiceFactory </class> <method>safeLogged</method> <message>Error during "pre-install configure" phase: File /apps/IBM/SMP/solutions/logs/MIF7604_HotFix/readme_MIF_7604_IFIX.txt exists. It cannot be created.</message> </entry> 8. Delete the Readme file in the location given, but upon attempting the update, the same error is generated and the readme is recreated in the same location. |
