Added Functions:
* None
Removed Functions:
Fixes:
* Fixed problem where library Web login page could be shown as expired.
Important:
Un-initialized M8 media and Pre-initialized M8 media is supported with a minimum LTO8 tape drive firmware
level of HB82 and a minimum library firmware level of IBM_3573_R_F_00_3_20e. The usage of M8 media with prior firmware
levels may result in a permanent reduction in the capacity of the M8 media from 9 TB to 6 TB (native).
Support:
Support for the following ITDT version:
* ITDT-SE v9.3.0.20181029
* ITDT-GE v9.3.0.20181029
NOTE: For a complete list of ITDT Limitations and Known Issues, please refer to the ITDT Readme file and the "Device Driver Installation and User Guide" distributed with the software.
Limitations:
1. Windows/Emulex: When HBA topology setting is set to auto-topology in an N-port/F-port environment, the HBA may run out of B2B credits (due to link failures), and then will abend job due to a known issue during the link reset recovery procedure. To avoid this situation, it is recommended that the HBA topology setting is set to N-port/Fport.
2. Brocade: Brocade HBAs, and their IBM version, do NOT support L-port topology. Direct attach configurations to our Tape Storage products is therefore NOT supported with these cards.
3. Brocade: Brocade HBA driver has to be installed manually by user, as it is not native on the operating system
4. AIX: NPIV attachment support via the FC 5729, 5735 and 5273 Fibre Channel HBA (requires VIOS 2.2).
5. AIX & LpS: No System FW support for SAS boot on Power 5 servers.
6. AIX & LpS/SAS: Path Failover features are not supported with SAS HBAs (FC 5900, FC 5912, FC 5901 and FC 5278).
7. AIX & LpS: User may experience communication interruption with the tape device if there are link errors in the SAS interface (No cable pull support on SAS adapters)
8. Windows/SCSI/LTO4Tape Drives: Restriction Tape Storage attachment to this adapter card limited to blocksizes equal to or less than 64K.
9. Windows/SCSI/LTO4 Tape Drives: Not supported by Windows Server 2012 Operating System
10. ITDT: For a complete list of ITDT Limitations and Known Issues, please refer to the Readme file and the "Device Driver Installation and User Guide" distributed with the software.
11. Library: Beginning with firmware version C.20 (R5C release), passwords are now stored using a cryptographic hash algorithm to make them more secure. If a user down levels library firmware to a version that does not support the cryptographic password hash (a version prior to C.20), then passwords will have to be restored to their default values from the operator panel (Configure > Save/Restore > Restore Passwords), after which the passwords may be changed to any valid password.
12. Windows: IBMTape device driver do not support System Managed Encryption on Win2012 R2 and Windows 2016
13. Windows: IBMTape device driver do not support System Managed Encryption on Win2012 R2 and Windows 2016.
14. LTO drive firmware: In a host environment with multiple cable paths lost and driver data path fail over attempts, there is a possibility of the drive becoming unresponsive to host SCSI commands and unsuccessful driver fail over.
15. Linux zSeries. Please refer to the zFCP Best Practices document for zLinux device attachment configuration at this link: https://www-05.ibm.com/de/2018-linux-on-z-ws-boeblingen/agenda/pdf/17_-_zFCP_Best_Practices.pdf for SLES on kernels 4.4.114 and above fast_io_fail_tmo and dev_loss_tmo require special parameters to be set for Error Recovery on FC transport layer.
Known Issues:
A. General Issue: Path Failover is not supported in environments where a single host server has installed HBAs using different HBA drivers.
B. Windows 2012/Brocade: Host Bus Adapters with part numbers 46M6050, 46M6049, 59Y1993 and 59Y1987 running on Intel, AMD and xSeries servers will not be supported until a driver package is released by System X

Support for the following ITDT version:
* ITDT-SE v9.0.0.20150729
* ITDT-GE v9.0.0.20150914
NOTE: For a complete list of ITDT Limitations and Known Issues, please refer to the ITDT Readme file and the "Device Driver Installation and User Guide" distributed with the software.
Limitations:
1. Windows/Emulex: No support for direct attachment to tape storage devices with the Emulex-based 8Gb host bus adapters. Link failures when direct connected will cause the host to lose communication with the tape storage device, and a host reboot will be needed to regain communication between the host bus adapter and the device.
3. Brocade: Brocade HBAs, and their IBM version, do NOT support L-port topology. Direct attach configurations to our Tape Storage products is therefore NOT supported with these cards.
4. Brocade: Brocade HBA driver has to be installed manually by user, as it is not native on the operating system
5. AIX: NPIV attachment support via the FC 5729, 5735 and 5273 Fibre Channel HBA (requires VIOS 2.2).
6. AIX & LpS: No System FW support for SAS boot on Power 5 servers.
7. AIX & LpS/SAS: Path Failover features are not supported with SAS HBAs (FC 5900, FC 5912, FC 5901 and FC 5278).
8. AIX & LpS: User may experience communication interruption with the tape device if there are link errors in the SAS interface (No cable pull support on SAS adapters)
9. Windows/SCSI/LTO4Tape Drives: Restriction Tape Storage attachment to this adapter card limited to blocksizes equal to or less than 64K.
10. Windows/SCSI/LTO4 Tape Drives: Not supported by Windows Server 2012 Operating System
11. ITDT: For a complete list of ITDT Limitations and Known Issues, please refer to the Readme file and the "Device Driver Installation and User Guide" distributed with the software.
13. Windows: IBMTape device driver do not support System Managed Encryption on Win2012 R2
14. lin_tape 3.0.8: User may experience communication interruption (server reboot) with re-discovery devices. Devices generic sd and st is not supported on zLinux platform at this time.

NOTE: For a complete list of ITDT Limitations and Known Issues, please refer to the ITDT Readme file and the "Device Driver Installation and User Guide" distributed with the software.
Known Issues and Limitations:
1. It is not recommended to enable IPSEC function without a valid IPSEC policy.
2. LTO5 and LTO5/4/3 v2 drive upgrade (R5 limitation remains), namely when upgrading from drive firmware C7RC/C7RD to D2AC/D2AD (released with this note) via host this will happen:
a) host SCSI commands will continue showing C7RC/C7RD firmware level after the host upgrade is completed
b) RMU* (Remote Management Unit) remains showing C7RC/C7RD firmware level and not the newest D2AC/D level
To avoid host drive upgrade issue above it is recommended one of following actions:
a) Use ITDT-SE v7.0.0 Build061 or higher or use the Library's Web GUI when upgrading via host.
b) Upgrade drive firmware D2AC/D2AD a second time
c) Issue a drive reset (via host or via RMU: Config Library, Drives, Un-check Power On and Submit. Then, Check Power On again and Submit).
d) Reboot the 3573 library
3. In order to conform to NIST SP 800-131A guidelines, weak ciphers have been removed from IPSec support.
4. Beginning with firmware version C.20 (R5C release), passwords are now stored using a cryptographic hash algorithm to make them more secure. If a user down levels library firmware to a version that does not support the cryptographic password hash (a version prior to C.20), then passwords will have to be restored to their default values from the operator panel (Configure > Save/Restore > Restore Passwords), after which the passwords may be changed to any valid password.

Readme file and the "Device Driver Installation and User Guide" distributed with the
software.
Known Issues and Limitations:
* Windows/Emulex: No support for direct attachment to tape storage devices with the Emulex-based 8Gb host bus adapters.
Link failures when direct connected will cause the host to lose communication with the tape storage device, and a host reboot will be needed
to regain communication between the host bus adapter and the device.
* Windows/Emulex: When HBA topology setting is set to auto-topology in an N-port/F-port environment from the switch point of view, the HBA may
run out of B2B credits (due to link failures) and then will abend job due to a known issue during the link reset recovery procedure.
To avoid this situation, it is recommended that the HBA topology setting is set to N-port/Fport.
* Brocade: Brocade HBAs and their IBM version do NOT support L-port topology. Direct attachment configuration to our Tape Storage products is therefore NOT supported
with these cards.
* Brocade: Brocade HBA driver has to be installed manually by user not native on the operating system.

at this time with the FC 5278 SAS HBA.
* AIX: User may experience communication interruption with the tape device if there are link
errors in the SAS interface (No cable pull support on SAS adapters)
* HP-UX: Integrity Servers (Itanium) only
* HP-UX: The following software packages are required for HP AH303A SAS Host Bus Adapter usage.
- SerialSCSI-00_B.11.31.0803_HP-UX_B.11.31_IA.depot
- CommonIO_B.11.31.0803_HP-UX_B.11.31_IA_PA.depot
* Windows/SCSI: Restriction: Tape Storage attachment to this adapter card limited to blocksizes
equal to or less than 64K.
* LzS: Applies fpr System z10 and higher server only.
* Linux: Operating Systems SLES10 SP4, RHEL5.6 & RHEL6 do not support LTO3 HH drives.
* Known issue/SAS HBA: In a Data Path and/or Control Path Failover configuration (lin_tape feature),
new special files for the tape drive and changer (/dev/IBMtapeX, /dev/IBMchangerX) may be created
during a failover situation.
* Know issues: Path Failover is not supported when running devices connected to a single host server
with HBAs that use different HBA drivers and an event occurs that causes one of the HBA drivers to
be uninstalled.
* Limitation/Linux: When loading firmware using ITDT ignore the error message "Unexpected Data" and
wait 10 minutes before re-scan. Or utilize the library Web Specialist to load the library firmware.
* Linux zSeries: Applies for System z114 server only.
* Encryption method: Library Managed Encryption (LME) with policy: Internal Label-Selective Encryption
and Internal Label - Encrypt All: No support with drive build BBNE and BBNF. If these encryption
internal label policies are a must please stay at prior drive levels: B171 (HH) and B170 (FH).
LME with encryption policy Encrypt All is fully supported, though.
* FH FC code down-level from BBNE to prior drive levels may indicate a supposed failure and RMU
systems status may show this error on the specific drive:F3 0x (x=drive number).
"HE: drive broken: needs repair ". This error message will disappear upon reboot of the library
and correct drive upgrade firmware level will appear through out the RMU pages.
* For a complete list of ITDT Limitations and Known Issues, please refer to the ITDT Readme file and
the "Device Driver Installation and User Guide" distributed with the software.

communication with the tape storage device, and a host reboot will be needed to regain
communication between the host bus adapter and the device.
* Windows/Emulex: When HBA topology setting is set to auto-topology in an N-port/F-port
environment, the HBA may run out of B2B credits (due to link failures), and then will abend
job due to a known issue during the link reset recovery procedure. To avoid this situation,
it is recommended that the HBA topology setting is set to N-port/Fport.
* Brocade: Brocade HBAs, and their IBM version, do NOT support L-port topology. Direct attach
configurations to our Tape Storage products is therefore NOT supported with these cards.
* Linux/Brocade: Brocade HBA driver has to be installed manually by user, as it is not native on
the operating system
* AIX: NPIV attachment support via the FC 5735 and 5273 Fibre Channel HBA (requires VIOS 2.1.3)
* AIX & LpS: No System FW support for SAS boot on Power 5 servers.

at this time with the FC 5900 SAS HBA.
* AIX & LpS: Data Path Failover (DPF) and Control Path Failover (CPF) features are not supported
at this time with the FC 5912 SAS HBA.
* AIX & LpS: Data Path Failover (DPF) and Control Path Failover (CPF) features are not supported
at this time with the FC 5901 SAS HBA.
* AIX & LpS: Data Path Failover (DPF) and Control Path Failover (CPF) features are not supported
at this time with the FC 5278 SAS HBA.

Library Code 7.30 Release Notes - December 2008
-----------------------------------------------
Component Firmware
The following component firmware is required for this release:
* Library: 7.30
* Drives: LTO4 - 89B2 (SAS, Fiber, SCSI)
* Drives: LTO4 - 89B1 (Half High SAS)
* Drives: LTO3 - 88M2 (Fiber,SCSI)
* Drives: LTO3 - 88M3 (Half High SAS, SCSI)
Added Functions:
* DNS addressing (Domain Name Server)
- Available on the Configure Library Network, web page
* Save Service Dump (dpa - DumpAllTrace)
- Available on the Service Library View Logs web page
* Library configuration Save/Restore
* Save/Restore library configuration file to/from library USB port (customer supplied USB
device)
- Available on the Operator Control Panel (OCP); Configure, Restore Defaults, menu
* Save/Restore library configuration file using web user interface
- Available on the Configure Library, Restore Defaults, web page
* Ability to disable User and Superuser roles
- Available on the Configure Library, User Access, web page
Fixes:
* Revised Installation Instructions for Replacing the Library Enclosure (PN 45E3714, EC M10255)
Chassis CRUs with 7.30 firmware will power-up, initialize, and support Library Verify prior
to installing the Library Controller Card from the old library. OCP text message and
documentation have been updated to reflect this change.
* Event Notification:
Fixed problem that existed with the 6.xx firmware.
* EKM Audit Log:
Fixed EKM audit log showing blank VOLSER on the first mount of tape.
* Superuser messages:
Fixed Manage Library messages to display the same information for Superuser as for
Administrator.
* Fixed message text when Administrator changes Superuser password.
Known Issue:
* Library generates SNMP Trap "Cleaning cartridge nearly expired" (8E 00) for data cartridges
that have a load count of 48 or 49. The SNMP Trap is generated when the tape is loaded into
a drive.
Action:
* View the Manage Library, Inventory, web page and examine the load count for any cleaning
cartridges in the inventory. SNMP Trap "Cleaning cartridge nearly expired" for cleaning
cartridges that have a load count of 48 or 49 is a correct event. The SNMP Trap was generated
for a data cartridge if there are no cleaning cartridges in the inventory, or if none of the
cleaning cartridges in the inventory have a load count of 48 or 49. The SNMP Trap will stop
being generated for the data cartridge once the load count for the cartridge surpasses 49.
* Can not disable SNMP after it is enabled or enable SNMP after it is disabled.
Action:
* Default for SNMP is disabled. Once SNMP is enabled there are conditions that may prevent it
from being disabled. There are also conditions that may prevent it from being enabled after
it is disabled. Use the following procedure if problems are encountered when
enabling/disabling SNMP:
Configure the library network protocol stack and IP addresses.
Ensure Domain Name on the Configure Library Network page is the same as the Domain Name on
the Configure Library Event Notification page.If Event Notification is enabled ensure the
Domain Name is not blank.
Reboot library
Configure SNMP. Ensure Target IP addresses are consistent with the library network protocol
stack.
* Errors configuring IPv6 when changing from IPv4 to either IPv6 or Dual Stack.
Action:
* When the Network Protocol Stack is changed from IPv4 to Dual Stack, and SNMP is enabled with
a valid IPv6 address, hitting the Submit button may lock the library. Library power cable(s)
must be unplugged and re-plugged to restore functionality. After library is functional,
configure IPv4 to Dual Stack without configuring SNMP (i.e. SNMP is disabled). Reboot library. Then configure SNMP with valid IP address.
Use the following procedure when changing library network protocol stack (IPv4 to IPv6, IPv6
to IPv4, or Dual Stack to IPv4):
Configure the library network protocol stack and IP addresses with SNMP disabled.
Ensure Domain Name on the Configure Library Network page is the same as the Domain Name on
the Configure Library Event Notification page.
If Event Notification is enabled ensure the Domain Name is not blank.
Reboot library
Configure SNMP. Ensure Target IP addresses are consistent with the library network protocol
stack.
* Errors configuring EKM server IP addresses with IPv6.
Action:
* Assigning IPv6 static addresses to the EKM server IP fields (Configure Library Encryption
page) will cause configuration errors if DNS is configured on the Configure Library Network
page. Ensure the EKM server IP addresses, on the Configure Library Encryption page, are the
full qualifying name (e.g. kingkong.storage.tucson.ibm.com) if DNS is configured on the
Configure Library Network page. Only use a static IPv6 address if DNS is not configured.

install the Library Controller Card from the old library. Message text is as follows – "New
library detected. Please remove library power and insert Library Controller Card from old
Library"
* Changed how library serial number is displayed:
Library Serial Number displayed in the Library Identify screen (OCP and web GUI) was 10
characters (example: L2U78B0368). This has been changed to 7 characters (example: 78B0368) to
match the serial number label specification. ("S/N PP-SSSSS". The "PP" represents the plant
of manufacture and the "SSSSS" represents the serial number sequence).
* Error D762 on some move media cases
