Troubleshooting


Problem

You are currently facing an issue connecting to or configuring a TM1 Datasource Connect from within Cognos BI.

Resolving The Problem

Problem: IBM Cognos TM1 / Compatible - TM1-ERR-0050 An attempt to initialize the TM1 API failed. The TM1 error code is 502. The TM1 error message is "Could not load tm1api.dll due to: The specified module could not be found.
Solution: The 32bit TM1 Client Drivers have not been installed. See Technote 1426957.

Problem: IBM Cognos TM1 / Dynamic - XQE-PVD-0003 An error occurred while loading provider instance "MDDS": XQE-EXE-0004 QFWBridge has returned an error: TM1-ERR-0050 An attempt to initialize the TM1 API failed. The TM1 error code is 502. The TM1 error message is "Could not load tm1api.dll due to: The specified module could not be found.
Solution: The 64bit TM1 Client Drivers have not been installed

Problem: IBM Cognos TM1 / Compatible - TM1-ERR-0052 An attempt to login to the TM1 server Planning Sample failed. The TM1 error code is 76. The TM1 error message is "SystemServerIncompatibleVersion".
Solution: The version of your 32bit client does not match your TM1 Server Version. Uninstall your existing TM1 Client, and install the correct version.

Problem: IBM Cognos TM1 / Dynamic - XMD-CON-0001 Connect failed with error message: TM1-ERR-0052 An attempt to login to the TM1 server Planning Sample failed. The TM1 error code is 76. The TM1 error message is "SystemServerIncompatibleVersion".
Solution: The version of your 64bit client does not match your TM1 Server Version. Uninstall your existing TM1 Client, and install the correct version.

Problem: IBM Cognos TM1 / Compatible - TM1-ERR-0073 The TM1 server sottcstm1.ottawa.ibm.com/Planning Sample cannot be found.
Problem: IBM Cognos TM1 / Dynamic - XMD-CON-0001 Connect failed with error message: TM1-ERR-0070 The TM1 server sottcstm1.ottawa.ibm.com/Planning Sample cannot be found.
Solution: Your TM1 server is not running. It may also be possible you do not have the ability to connect to the TM1 Server either via a bad network connection or a blocked port.

Problem: IBM Cognos TM1 / Compatible - OP-ERR-0068 An error occurred while trying to connect to data source ''. Details: TM1-ERR-0052 An attempt to login to the TM1 server Planning Sample failed. The TM1 error code is 80. The TM1 error message is "SystemServerClientNotFound".
Problem: IBM Cognos TM1 / Dynamic - XQE-DS-0006 Unable to logon to the data source.
Solution: The user you are attempting to log in with is not valid. Use a different username/password. It is also possible, that TM1 is configured using CAM Security.


If you are still unable to successfully connect to TM1 from BI, please log a PMR with IBM Support and provide the following:
-cmplst.txt files (version of both TM1 and BI)
-tm1s.cfg file (for the TM1 Server you are connecting to)
-cogserver.log file (from BI logs directory)
-screenshot of the error message you are running into
