Troubleshooting


Problem

User runs a report. User receives an error message.

Symptom

IMPORTANT: The error message will vary depending on environment.

  • In other words, customers may see different error messages even though the root cause scenario is exactly the same.

Environmental factors (on the client device) that can cause the error to change include:
  • Version of Microsoft Excel (e.g. Excel 2003 / 2007 / 2010)
  • Version of Microsoft Internet Explorer
  • Version of operating system installed (e.g. Windows XP, 7, Windows 2003, 2008 Server)
However, in general the errors will look fairly similar to the following:

    Number: -2147467261
    Source: interop.Excel
    Description: Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt.
