Troubleshooting the generic error 'Failed to connect or logon to IBM cognos 8" when using "Import from Framework Manager"

Troubleshooting


Problem

User has successfully already defined an import specification (for example, called 'ABC') based on importing data from FM. Afterwards, user clicks 'Transfer - External Data - Import from Framework Manager'. User selects the Import Specification (for example 'ABC'). User clicks the blue triangular 'run' button. There is a delay of approximately 30 seconds. User receives error message.
