Troubleshoot connection issues with metadata interchange server

Problem

In IBM InfoSphere Metadata Asset Manager, the list of bridges may not be displayed in the Create New Import Area dialog if a connection with the selected metadata interchange server cannot be established for various reasons.

Symptom

The connection with a metadata interchange server might fail with one of the following error messages.

  • Cannot connect to metadata interchange server on <host>:<port>. Connection refused: connect.
  • Cannot connect to metadata interchange server on <host>:<port>. Connection timed out: connect.
  • Cannot connect to metadata interchange server on <host>:<port>. <host>; nested exception is: java.net.UnknownHostException.
  • Cannot connect to metadata interchange server on <host>:<port>. ; nested exception is: javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException: Remote host closed connection during handshake.
