Problem

This technote explains how to resolve an error, albd_rgy_get_entry call failed: RPC: Timed out cleartool: Error: Trouble contacting registry on host ": timed out trying to communicate with ClearCase remote server., that can occur when attempting to run IBM Rational ClearCase commands such as lsvob or lsview.

Symptom

Attempts to run commands, such as cleartool lsvob and cleartool lsview result in this error:

albd_rgy_get_entry call failed: RPC: Timed out
cleartool: Error: Trouble contacting registry on host "<host-name>": timed out trying to communicate with ClearCase remote server.

These same commands worked successfully on this machine previously, so what is causing this behavior?
