Transit Time Configuration for Optimization
Answer
Transit Time Configuration for Optimization
Sterling TMS usesyour profiled transit times to determine how long it takes to deliveran order using each transportation mode and service type. The requirementsfor defining transit times vary by mode.
Sterling TMS usesthe transit times to determine which modes and service types to submitto the optimizer for each order. Sterling TMS stores thetransit times for each mode and service type combination in the directmode selection plan for the order.
If a mode and service type cannot deliver the order in time theoptimizer does not consider that mode and service type.
For example:
- The delivery window for an order is four days The order needsto be picked up on Monday 8 May and delivered by Thursday 11 May.
- One of the modes that is available is Intermodal. The transittime is six days.
- The optimizer disqualifies Intermodal as a mode for the orderbecause the order cannot be delivered in time.
