This technote provides steps to setup the Tivoli Storage Manager client schedule and Web client in a firewall environment

Answer

The following steps may be followed to properly setup the client

1. Add the following lines in dsm.sys for Unix and Linux or dsm.opt for Windows. For example :


#dsmcad dsmagent ports,
Webport 1552 1553
#web client HTTPport
HTTPport 1581
# TSM server port
TCPport 1500
PASSWORDACCESS GENERATE
# For CAD managed schedule
MANAGEDSERVICES schedule webclient
#Using prompt schedule mode
SCHEDMODE Prompted


2. Open the following ports on the firewall to and from Tivoli Storage Manager server:

1500,tcp,out #TSM server port
1552,tcp,in #TSM client Acceptor:dsmcad
1552,tcp,out #TSM client Acceptor:dsmcad"
1553,tcp,in #TSM Remote Client:dsmagent"
1553,tcp,out #TSM Remote Client dsmagent"
1581,tcp,in #TSM Web Client"
1581,tcp,out #TSM Web Client"


3. Stop the running dsmcad on UNIX and Linux or Acceptor service on Windows.


#ps -ef|grep dsmcad
#kill pid_of_dsmcad


4. Generate local encrypted password

dsmc q session ...enter NODEID/PASSword when prompted


5. Start dsmcad for UNIX and Linux or Acceptor Service for Windows
