Tivoli Netcool/Impact: How to create an Oracle data source connection to LDAP using a JDBC LDAP URL

Question & Answer

How do I create an Oracle data source connection to LDAP using a JDBC LDAP URL?

  1. Create an Oracle data source and select the LDAP URL connection option in the user interface.
  2. In the Data source name field, type a unique name to identify the data source.
  3. In the user name field, type a user name with which you can access the database.
  4. In the password field, type a password that allows you access to the database.
  5. Maximum SQL Connection: For maximum performance define the size of the connection pool as greater than or equal to the maximum number of threads running in the event processor. The default value is 5.
  6. Connection Options: Select the LDAP URL connection from the drop down menu.
  7. In the Oracle LDAP URL field, add the Oracle LDAP URL: jdbc:oracle:thin:@ldap:<IP Address>/ADTEST,cn=OracleContext,DC=oracle,dc=support,dc=com
  8. You are prompted to add the following information:
  • LDAP Username: cn=Administrator,cn=Users,dc=oracle,dc=support,dc=com
  • LDAP password: netcool
When a data source is configured in this way, the oracle JDBC connection is made through the LDAP URL provided in the User Interface.
