Troubleshooting


Problem

The FileNet Content Platform Engine (CPE) server is packaged with the 5.5.12 and higher Thumbnail Extensions. This extension is used to create thumbnails for documents that are uploaded to the Content Engine (CE). When the Font Path is not set correctly, the thumbnail generation for text files may fail giving the error SCCERR_NOVALIDFONTS.

Symptom

Thumbnails for text files will not get generated. The processing failures count in the Thumbnail Request Sweep Queue Sweep will increase as more documents fail to generate thumbnails. In the Content Engine (CE) system logs, a handler error of SCCERR_NOVALIDFONTS will show. Example:
Failed to generate thumbnail for file: [/opt/IBM/WebSphere/AppServer/profiles/appSrv01/FileNet/hostname.com/content/{A77CE131-525D-4E86-BB17-B9D98A00DC3A}/FN{0059F892-0000-C719-9192-FFB878508070}{9624DDD3-4651-4BA9-978F-0DBCC16C3978}-0.txt :: mimetype<text/plain> extension<txt>], generation service return error code: [2819: SCCERR_NOVALIDFONTS].
