Troubleshooting
Problem
This technote explains that when a .js file association is not to the Java™ script engine, an error message is displayed after an IBM® Installation Manager install completes successfully and provides a workaround for future installs.
Symptom
The following dialog is displayed after installation:
Windows Script Host
There is no script engine for file extension ".js"
Screenshot:
Cause
The Installation Manager explicitly invokes the wscript.exe executable as it only conditionally uses jscript (because not all Microsoft® Windows® hosts have scripting installed); however, the Installation Manager must also pass "//e:jscript" option to ensure correct operation on a machine where the .js file association has been tampered with (such as when UltraEdit is installed).
The Installation Manager is trying to delete some files that were in use during the installation process.
Note: This error did not effect the installation of the packages.
Resolving The Problem
This issue has been resolved in version 1.2 of Installation Manager.
WORKAROUND:
You can workaround the issue by re-establishing the correct .js file association.
