IBM Support

The TEP client has terminated because a server connection error has occurred.

Question & Answer

Question

Is there a solution to the TEP client terminating due to server connection error?

Cause

Sun Java versions 1.6.0_10 and higher introduced a new plug-in architecture and established this as the default plug-in. IBM Tivoli Monitoring browser clients do not run with this new plug-in architecture.

Answer

Refer to the following developerWorks article and ITM documentation for more information and a description of how to resolve this problem:

My TEP browser client does not run correctly with Sun Java 1.6.0_10 or higher

Installation and Configuration Guide > Configuring clients, browsers, and JREs > Browser clients
Goto the "Support for Sun Java 1.6.0_10 or higher with browser clients on Windows" section

Please note that at this time Mozilla Firefox is not officially supported for the ITM TEP client running in Browser (applet) mode if Sun Java 1.6.0_10 or higher is used.

Mozilla Firefox is supported with Sun Java 1.6.0_07 or lower and IBM java 1.5.0 which is currently shipped with ITM versions 620, 621 and 622.
