This tidbit file provides instructions on how to create a new InfoMan Group using the default panels. The instructions assume that you have logged onto InfoMan and are in a privilege class (group) with authority to create a Group. Cause

This tidbit file provides instructions on how to create a new InfoMan Group using the default panels. The instructions assume that you have logged onto InfoMan and are in a privilege class (group) with authority to create a Group.

Answer

Copy InfoMan Group


1. Locate a group that has similar authority to your requirements for the new group, you can do this using the InfoMan INQUIRY dialogs. First make sure you are in SYSTEM, you can confirm this by checking the right upper corner of your screen for ‘APPLICATION: SYSTEM” as follows:



2. If you do not see SYSTEM, then select 3.APPLICATION, this will take you to the “APPLICATION SELECTION” dialog as follows, select 1 SYSTEM:



3. Now you will see SYSTEM in the right upper corner of your panel as follows:



4. Select 6. INQUIRY to go to the “SYSTEM RECORD INQUIRY” dialog, select 1. CLASS



5. This will take you to the “CLASS DESCRIPTION INQUIRY” dialog, type SE and press Enter, you will get a “SEARCH RESULTS LIST” of all the groups/privilege class records as follows:



6. Find a group/privilege class record that closely matches your requirements and type C for Copy next to the record that you wish to copy and press Enter, you will be taken to the “CLASS DESCRIPTION ENTRY” dialog as follows:

Give the new group/privilege class a name by specifying it in the “Privilege class name” filed, if the name doesn’t already exist in the database, you will see the name appear in the right upper corner next to CLASS:. Change the Description to match the group/privilege class you’re creating. Press Enter, this will take you to the “CLASS SUMMARY” dialog as follows:



8. Select “2. Class authority.” and you will be taken to the “AUTHORITY ENTRY” dialog as follows, go through each selection and set the required authority for this new group/privilege class.



9. Once you are complete with setting the required authority for the new group, press PF3, this will take you back to the “CLASS SUMMARY” dialog as follows:



10. Select “3. Eligible users.” And you will be taken to the “GENERAL USER AUTHORIZATION TABLE” where you specify all the user ID’s that you are authorizing to use this group/privilege class as follows:



11. After adding all the user ID, hit PF3 twice, you will be taken back to the “SEARCH RESULTS LIST” with a BLG03058I message informing you that the group/privilege class has been created as follows:



12. Congratulations, you have created a new group.
