Problem

Under very rare conditions, the I2C test command returns the node as busy, and the I2C test fails. This symptoms can be seen by all of the IBM tools that have the I2C bus test function, such as IBM Director and IBM Dynamic System Analysis (DSA).

Symptom

Under very rare conditions, the I2C test command returns the node as busy, and the I2C test fails. This symptoms can be seen by all of the IBM tools that have the I2C bus test function, such as IBM Director and IBM Dynamic System Analysis (DSA).

Affected configurations

The system may be any of the following IBM servers:

  • System x3690 X5, type 7148, any model
  • System x3690 X5, type 7149, any model

This tip is not software specific.
This tip is not option specific.
The system has the symptom described above.

Solution

This issue has been fixed in Integrated Management Module (IMM) yuoo75t.

Workaround

Reset the IMM or AC power cycle the server.

Additional information

A multi-thread race condition has been found in the code and been fixed.
