Problem

The system restarts with the following error message in the Integrated Management Module (IMM) log: A software NMI has occurred on system System x3750 M4 or An Uncorrectable Bus Error has occurred on bus CPUs.

Symptom

The IBM System x3750 M4 is configured with:

  • Option Part Number (P/N) 90Y9352 Broadcom NetXtreme I Quad-Port Gigabit Ethernet Adapter for IBM System x
  • Option Part NumberP/N 90Y9370 Broadcom NetXtreme I Dual-Port Gigabit Ethernet Adapter for IBM System x

The system restarts with the following error message in the Integrated Management Module (IMM) log:

 

A software NMI has occurred on system

or

An Uncorrectable Bus Error has occurred on bus CPUs

Affected configurations

The system may be any of the following IBM servers:

  • System x3750 M4, type 8722, any model
  • System x3750 M4, type 8733, any model

This tip is not software specific.

This tip is not option specific.

Solution

These two adapters are not supported in the system. Consult IBM ServerProven for compatibility information.
