Resolving The Problem
This document discusses a possible cause where System i Navigator will post a message stating Cannot Determine Components Supported.
When the System i Navigator posts an error message System i Navigator was unable to determine which components are available, this may be an Windows authority issue. This is most commonly seen on Windows operating system versions of Vista and later where User Access Control is enabled. This environment will prevent certain types of registry and file updates from being made even by users that are a member of the Administrators group, but are not running the application is elevated mode.
To test this resolution, you should do the following:
| 1. | When the user is going to execute the System i Navigator, right click and select the option to Run as administrator. To test this, the user signing on must have Administrator rights. If this resolves the issue, the System i Navigator properties can be changed to always run as administrator. |
| 2. | Right click on the System i Navigator shortcut on the desktop, or within the Programs Menu and select Properties. |
| 3. | Under the shortcut tab, select Advanced and from there, check the option to Run as administrator. |

Other possible causes to this message could be the same things that would cause the CWBUNPLA "Error retrieving usage information" and are documented in IBM i DCF Knowledgebase Document N1019482 "CWBUNPLA Error Message in IBM Access for Windows"
