Problem

On IBM eServer systems, the date and time in the system error log are incorrect, or a scheduled power on/off occurs on the wrong day.

  • The date and time in the system error log are incorrect.
  • A scheduled power on/off occurs on the wrong day.

Affected configurations
The system may be any of the following IBM e(logo)servers:

  • an IBM eServer BladeCenter, type 8677, any model
  • an IBM eServer 325, type 8835, any model
  • an IBM eServer xSeries 455, type 8855, any model
  • an IBM eServer xSeries 450, type 8688, any model
  • an IBM eServer xSeries 445, type 8870, any model
  • an IBM eServer xSeries 440, type 8687, any model
  • an IBM eServer xSeries 365, type 8861, any model
  • an IBM eServer xSeries 365, type 8862, any model
  • an IBM eServer xSeries 360, type 8686, any model
  • an IBM eServer xSeries 345, type 8670, any model
  • an IBM eServer xSeries 342, type 8669, any model
  • an IBM eServer xSeries 335, type 8830, any model
  • an IBM eServer xSeries 335, type 8676, any model
  • an IBM eServer xSeries 330, type 8675, any model

The system is configured with the following option(s):

  • an IBM Remote Supervisor Adapter, option part number 09N7585, FRU 36L9912.
  • an IBM Remote Supervisor Adapter II, option part number 59P2984, FRU 02R1654.
  • an IBM Remote Supervisor Adapter II-EXA, option part number 13N0382, FRU 73P9246.

Solution
For IBM eServer BladeCenter Management Module Firmware Update to version 1.08 (or later). For all other systems a new system BIOS and Remote Supervisor Adapter or ISMP code will be required. Release date: TBD

Workaround
For systems with Remote Supervisor Adapter I and II you can manually set the time and date. Reference your user's guide for specific instructions for your server. For ISMP (H8) only systems there is no workaround.

Additional information
The system date and time is correct in the BIOS and in the operating system.
