A system error has occurred along with SQL0440N and SQLSTATE=42884

Troubleshooting


Problem

Installation of Tivoli Storage Manager Reporting and Monitoring fails when attempting to create the TEPS database.

Symptom

The following error is logged :

system error has occurred (sqlecrea) - SQL0440N No authorized routine named "COLLATIONNAME" of type "FUNCTION" having compatible arguments was found. SQLSTATE=42884

Diagnosing The Problem

Review the "Abort IBM Tivoli Monitoring {data/timestamp}.log" file in the ITM installation directory. for more details. For example :

Attempting to create database TEPS.
A system error has occurred (sqlecrea) - SQL0440N No authorized routine named "COLLATIONNAME" of type "FUNCTION" having compatible arguments was found. SQLSTATE=42884.
Process terminated.11-3-2011 14:13:34 DB2DataSource: Operation completed with errors. CITMISUtilApp::ExitInstance
CConfigTepsDb::CreateTepsDsn DB2 DSN creation failed with rc: 1
CConfigTepsDb::CreateTepsDsn method exit: Exit, return value is: 0

Resolving The Problem

This problem can be seen if the installation is done under one of the following conditions.

  1. The installation is being done via a userid that is part of the Domain Administrator instead of a local Administrator account.
  2. There is Anti-Virus software running on this machine which is preventing the TEPS database creation.
