Troubleshooting
Problem
When a system plan is created for a managed system using the HMC, the plan reflects the current profile configuration for each partition. It does not capture the resources currently allocated to a partition.
Resolving The Problem
When a system plan is created for a managed system using the HMC, the plan reflects the current profile configuration for each partition.
Note: The system plan does not capture the current resource configuration for a partition. The current resources (memory, CPU, I/O, and so on) for a partition can be different than the profile used to activate it due to dynamic logical partitioning (DLPAR) operations.
When displayed in the HMC viewer, the system section shows all profiles for each partition and the resources assigned to the profile. In the figure below, the following sections are identified:
A - System
The system properties.
B - System profiles
List of each system profile and its configuration.
C - Partitions
List of partitions on the system.
D - Partition properties
One section per partition.
E - Partition Profile Properties
Each profile and the resources assigned in that profile. A future version of the HMC (after 7.3.2) will identify which of the profiles is the default profile.

Hardware Section
The hardware section shows the I/O properties for the system organized by physical location. This section includes a column for "Used by Partition / Profile" to show the partition(s) and partition profile(s) that currently have the resource assigned. With HMC 7.3.2.0 SP1 and earlier, this column shows only one partition/profile even if multiple profiles have the resource. The partition profile listed can be any one of the profiles that include the resource. A future version of the HMC will list all profiles that contain the resource.
