Syntax Editor: Overwrite modus changes it's fuction if ctrl+Insert and shift+insert is used as shortcuts in Syntax editor window

Troubleshooting

Problem

I am using SPSS Statistics 17.0 and I am used to copy text from a text document and paste it into the syntax editor. For copy I use the key combination: ctrl+insert and for paste I use ctrl+insert. However, when I press the insert key after pasting again in order to activate the overwrite mode in the Syntax editor window (OVR) I have noticed that after using the key combination the OVR works to the contrary: when OVR is displayed in the status bar of the syntax editor overwrite is not possible, when OVR is not displayed overwrite is possible. I have to close the Syntax Editor window to get out of this.

Resolving The Problem

This problem has been reported to SPSS Development - Workaround Available. This issue is fixed with the 17.0.2 Patch.

As a workaround for prior releases please use the key combination ctrl+c and ctrl+v instead and activate the OVR mode. This will work as expected. We apologize for any inconvenience.
