| 1. | The master switch between the NEW technology (XDN) and the old (XDA) is accomplished with Option 50 in the Database menu of the Central Instance: a. Sign on as <SID>OFR. b. Select the following: -- Option 4. SAP Database -- Option 50. Change Database Driver for SAP (XDA <-> XDN)  c. The SETDBDRV menu appears which will set profile parameters in DEFAULT.PFL. (Use F1 for Help).  (Trying to switch on a non-central instance will return: ERROR: main: Can't Install on this Host). |
| 2. | To disable a particular SAP instance, add the following to the INSTANCE profile: dbs/db4/driver_type = XDA |
| 3. | To take advantage of new features, you can *optionally* make the following changes to INSTANCE profiles: Windows / Linux Application Instances: REMOVE: dbs_db4_da_cache_size ADD: dbs/db4/dbsl_buffersize = 524288 IBM i 2-Tier (Only needed for 640): ADD: dbs/db4/allow_cancel = 1 |
| 4. | Once changed, the application servers must be restarted for the change to take effect. Windows requires a restart of the SAP<SID>_nn service also (so the profile parameters are re-read from the file). |
