Problem

Supported DCE and DFS levels on various releases of AIX, Solaris and Windows platforms

Resolving The Problem

  • DCE on UNIX (AIX and Solaris): The only currently supported version is DCE 3.2. It runs on AIX 4.3.3, 5.1, 5.2, 5.3 and 6.1 and on Solaris 7, 8, 9 and 10 on both 32- and 64-bit kernels.
    • PTF 12 is current; it was released in September 2007.
    • DCE 3.2 PTF 12 has been certified to run on AIX 6.1.
    • Support for 64-bit kernels was officially added in PTF 2.
    • Support for Solaris 9 was added in PTF 3.
    • Support for Solaris 10 was added in PTF 9.
    • Support for AIX 5.2 was added in PTF 4.
    • Support for AIX 5.3 was added in PTF 7.
    • Currently announced end of support is April 2008.
    • DCE 3.1 is no longer supported.

  • DCE on Windows: The only currently supported version is DCE 2.2. It runs on Microsoft Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition and Windows Vista (Business, Enterprise and Ultimate Editions).
    • ECO 8 is current; it was released in September 2007.
    • Support for Windows XP was added in ECO 5.
    • Support for Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition was added in ECO 6.
    • Support for Windows Terminal Server was added in ECO 7.
    • Support for Business, Enterprise and Ultimate Editions of Windows Vista was added in ECO 8.
    • Currently announced end of support is April 2008.
  • DFS on UNIX (AIX and Solaris): the only currently supported version is DFS 3.1. It runs on AIX 4.3.3, 5.1, 5.2, and 5.3, and on Solaris 7, 8, 9 and 10, on both 32- and 64-bit kernels.
    • PTF 11 is current; it was released in July 2006.
    • Support for Solaris 8 was added in PTF 1.
    • Support for AIX 5.1 was added in PTF 3.
    • Support for Solaris 9 was added in PTF 6.
    • Support for AIX 5.2 was added in PTF 7.
    • Support for AIX 5.3 was added in PTF 9.
    • Support for Solaris 10 was added in PTF 11.
    • Currently announced end of support is April 30, 2006.
  • DFS on Windows: the only currently supported version is DFS 3.0. It runs on Windows NT 4.0 and Windows 2000. DFS on Windows includes a DFS client only.
    • PTF 2 is current; it was released in November 2003.
    • Support for Windows XP was added in PTF 2.
    • Currently announced end of support is April 30, 2006.
