Problem
HS23 planar FRU's have been shipping until 2Q16 with down level Emulex firmware code which may lead to issues when PXE booting the blade. To eliminate the issue, we use a bootable DVD to update the Emulex firmware code version on the FRU. The DVD has required firmware code to update Emulex version and it also set MTM, Serial number and smbios settings. But now HS23 planar FRU's are arriving with the latest Emulex level and this eliminates issue to update the Emulex firmware to support effective PXE boot. But even if Emulex version is up to date the DVD can set MTM. serial number and smbios settings on the HS23 planar FRU.

Cause
If HS23 planar FRU has down level Emulex version code, it leads to issues when PXE booting the blade.
Environment
This Enhancement is available in NPS version 7.2.1.6 and onwards.
Replacespu script will identify HS23 planar FRU and will execute new code. For other models, planar FRU replacement procedure will be same.
Please check Emulex version of HS23 planar FRU after replacement if it is below expected version (i.e. 10.2.377.65 or greater) then please update it by using Support tools 2.0.0.5 or greater or use FDT 4.3.1.4 or greater.
Procedure change in replacespu script is updated in N3001_Replacement_Procedures.pdf document.
Diagnosing The Problem
This is new Enhancement in replacespu script to eliminate HS23 DVD during planar replacement.
Resolving The Problem
As a solution, we have incorporated DVD code used for setting MTM, serial number and smbios setting in replacespu script. As this requirement is specific for HS23 planar FRU ( 00YL061 or 00YL062) , for other model planar replacement procedure will not change.
Known issues during spu replacement:
/opt/IBM/ASU directory should not contain files other than ibm_asu_util tar file. This may cause issues during configuring FPGA and replacespu script may fail.
You can move files (other than ibm_asu_util tar file) from /opt/IBM/ASU to /tmp location and you can move back these files after completion of planar replacement.
You can search below error in replacespu logs to identify this issue:
Error: Too many files in /opt/IBM/ASU: asu64 cdc_interface.sh ibm_utl_asu_asut85a-9.61_linux_x86-64.tgz lic_en.txt asu template.xml rdcli-x86_64 savestat.def
