STRTCP Does Not Activate TCP/IP Interfaces after IPL

Troubleshooting

Problem

This document describes why the STRTCP command does not start TCP after the first IPL and results in the following message: CPF4102 - File QATOCLVIP in library QUSRSYS member VIPAIFC not found.

Resolving The Problem

The STRTCP command fails with the following messages:

CPF4102 - File QATOCLVIP in library QUSRSYS member VIPAIFC not found.
CPF9849 - Error while processing file QATOCIFC in library QUSRSYS member INTERFACES.

Check the file QATOCLVIP in QUSRSYS. This new file for V5R4 is missing. Normally, you find this file (QATOCLVIP) with member VIPAICF in QUSRSYS. This is a system-supplied VIPA Preferred Interface List File.

Load the B2924_02 CD, and run the following command (assuming OPT01 is the location of your CD drive):

RSTOBJ OBJ(QATOCLVIP) SAVLIB(QUSRSYS) DEV(OPT01) OBJTYPE(*FILE) OPTFILE('/QUSRLIBS/Q5400024/QUSRSYS')
Restore this file. You should then be able to start TCP successfully.

Note: If the client issues the restore command, but receives an error stating File does not exist on media, the problem is that the upgrade was unsuccessful. Check the status of installed licensed programs (GO LICPGM, Option 10) to ensure installed status is not *BACKLEVEL or *ERROR.
