Question & Answer
Question
Updating collocation option from NO to GROUP, NODE, or FILESPACE does not initiate data movement activity to collocate the pool.
Cause
The change in the collocation value for a storage pool, from NO to GROUP, NODE or FILESPACE does not start a process that immediately converts the pool from not-collocated to collocated.
Answer
When the collocation value on a sequential storage pool with existing data is changed from NO to GROUP, NODE or FILESPACE the actual data collocation occurs over time. As new data is added to the pool it will be stored in a collocated fashion. As old data is reclaimed from the non-collocated tapes in the pool, the data will be collocated on the new output tapes.
