Stopping Microsoft Word from repaginating a RequisitePro document

Troubleshooting

Problem

This technote identifies how you can prevent Microsoft® Word® from repaginating a document in IBM® Rational® RequisitePro® to eliminate performance lags.

Cause

Repagination slows performance in RequisitePro as it is performed after every requirement is created or modified. If the document is viewed in the Print Layout View, by design, the print layout view requires background repagination to be turned on to display page breaks correctly. Every time changes are made to the document, such as requirement creation, Word has to repaginate to correctly display the Print Layout View.

Resolving The Problem

To avoid performance loss due to the repagination of your RequisitePro document, do not use Print Layout view.

Instead use one of the following views:

  • Normal View
  • Outline View
  • Master View

These Views are accessible from the Microsoft Word View menu.
