Question
Sterling B2B Collaboration Network Security Capabilities
Answer
Sterling B2B CollaborationNetwork SecurityCapabilities
The Sterling B2B CollaborationNetwork securityoptions include both secure protocols/transport methods and securecommunications.
Protocols and Transport Methods
Sterling B2B CollaborationNetwork supportsthe following protocol/physical transport method/security options:
- Any options with checkmarks do not provide encryption services.
- FTP over ISDN is only a backup option for Frame Relay andVPN.
For more information about specific protocols see Gateways.

Secure Communication Options
Sterling B2B CollaborationNetwork offersseveral types of secure communications options including communicationand data encryption. Sterling B2B CollaborationNetwork storesencryption certificates in a secure location that can be accessedonly by authorized staff.
Encryption servicesinclude the following:
- EDI AS1 and AS2
- Connect:Direct Secure+
- PGP over FTP
- Secure FTP (FTP/S and SFTP)
- HTTP/S
- 3DES and IPSec (through VPN)
- Because the Dial-up communications protocol is direct (or point-to-point)it is inherently secure. (Dial-up is only available within the U.S.)
- Regardless of the protocol VPN connections encrypt the TCP packets.
- Frame Relay and ANX communications protocols are considered privatenetworks and are inherently secure.
