Question

Steps for taking thread dump on BEA WebLogic

Cause

You may be asked by DB2 Alphablox Technical Support to provide a WebLogic thread dump. This is an important diagnostic tool especially if you are encountering system hangs. This tech note describes how to get the thread dump for support.

Answer

Open a command prompt and enter the following command:

WL_HOME\bin\beasvc -dump -svcname:service-name

where WL_HOME is the directory in which you installed WebLogic Server and
service-name is the Windows service that is running a server instance. For example:

D:\bea\weblogic81\server\bin\beasvc -dump -svcname:mydomain_myserver
