Starting or stopping the IBM Business Process Manager (BPM) deployment environment from the Quick Start console does not work with incorrect username and password

Troubleshooting


Problem

Clicking the Start server or Start deployment environment links in the Quick Start console will not start the server or deployment environment if the username and password that have been provided are incorrect or do not have administrator privileges, nor will clicking the Stop server or Stop deployment environment links in the Quick Start console stop the server or deployment environment

Symptom

After clicking the Start server or Start deployment environment links in the Quick Start console, the deployment manager is started but the server and the deployment environment are not.
One of the following error messages are written to the deployment manager FFDC logs:

    CWWIM4537E No principal is found from the '<Entered_userName>' principal name.
    CWWIM4513E The password match failed for the '<CellCredentials>' principal name.
The following error message is written to the BPMConfig logs, found at <BPM_HOME>\logs\config:
    ADMN0022E: Access is denied for the getCommandMetaInfo operation on RemoteCommandMgr MBean because of insufficient or empty credentials.

After clicking the Stop server or Stop deployment environment links in the Quick Start console, neither the server nor the deployment manager is stopped, and the following error messages are written to the deployment manager logs:

    ADMU0111E: Program exiting with error: javax.management.JMRuntimeException
    ADMN0022E: Access is denied for the stop operation on Server MBean because of insufficient or empty credentials.
    ADMU4113E: Verify that username and password information is correct. If running tool from the command line, pass in the correct -username and -password. Alternatively, update the
    <conntype>.client.props file.

The following error message is written to the BPMConfig logs, found at <BPM_HOME>\logs\config:
    ADMN0022E: Access is denied for the getCommandMetaInfo operation on RemoteCommandMgr MBean because of insufficient or empty credentials.
    com.ibm.bpm.config.util.ConfigException: CWMCB0011E: Deployment manager <DMgr Name> was not stopped. BPMConfig failed, check the log file for information.

Close and restart the Quick Start console, providing the correct username and password.
