Resolving The Problem
After installing the Licensed Internal Code, Operating System and during IPL, the system panel has the attention light on with a source code of A9002000 and the upgrade process stops.
Source code A9002000 is usually displayed because the system cannot configure the console workstation and vary it on during the IPL following the installation of the Operating System. If the system value for automatic configuration has been turned off, it must be turned on. Use the following steps:
Note: SRCA9002000 will be displayed during an IPL if system value QIPLTYPE=2. The system has created device description QCONSOLE to allow the restore operation to continue, and you will have access to the console despite this SRC being displayed. If auto configuration is desired to be turned off during a full system recovery (such as when following Appendix C or Appendix D in the Recovering your system manual (SC41-5304)), it is expected that the console configuration (and other configuration) will be restored with RSTCFG. After the RSTCFG operation is complete and system value QIPLTYPE is set back to 0, SRCA9002000 should no longer display during an IPL. If console issues persist after configuration recovery, the steps in this document may be helpful.
| 1. | Set the panel to B M which is B side IPL and in manual mode. Press the delayed power off button two times to power off the IBM iSeries server. Note: For an HMC managed system, use the HMC to place the partition in B Manual mode and power off the LPAR from the HMC. |
| 2. | After it is powered off, power it back on. |
| 3. | When the IPL or Install the System menu is presented, select Option 1 to perform an IPL. |
| 4. | During the IPL, on the IPL Options screen, specify Y for 'Set major system options'. After changing the IPL Options that you desire, press enter. On the Set Major System Options display, select Y to enable automatic configuration. This allows the console controller and workstation to be created and varied on. This will prevent SRCA9002000 and allow the user to get to a command line on the console. |
| 5. | On an operating system command line, type the following to get to a restricted state: ENDSBS *ALL *IMMED Press the Enter key. |
| 6. | Issue the GO LICPGM command, and select Option 1 followed by 'Install option' = 4 to allow the use of the customized installation list that was created earlier (when Option 5, Prepare to Install, was taken). If 'Install option' 4 does not exist, then select 'Install option' = 1. This places the upgrade back on the course of an automatic installation. |
