SQL0902C when using the -dtc option with the testconn utility

Troubleshooting


Problem

When using the testconn utility (eg, testconn40.exe) to validate a DB2 .NET configuration, the 6th step could fail with the following error message when using the utility with the -dtc option: Step 6: Creating XA connection DB2TransactionScope: Failed to open connection to database! IBM.Data.DB2.DB2Exception (0x80004005): ERROR [58005] [IBM] SQL0902C A system error occurred. Subsequent SQL statements cannot be processed. IBM software support reason code: "". SQLSTATE=58005

Symptom

The connection is being established to a DB2 for z/OS v9 server. The client is either using the IBM Data Server Driver or has the db2dsdriver.cfg keyword enableDirectXA set to true.
