SQL Server query results in SQL0510N when WHERE clause is used

Problem

When using the OLE-DB provider to connect to a DB2 Universal Database using Microsoft SQL Server or Microsoft Access, a query may result in SQL0510N  

Symptom

The following error is returned to the user:

OLE DB provider "MSDASQL" for linked server "<server_name>" returned message
"[IBM][CLI Driver][DB2/LINUXX8664] SQL0510N UPDATE or DELETE is not allowed against the specified cursor. SQLSTATE=42828
