SQL Server does not exist or Access denied, error when configuring Project Properties

Problem

This technote explains why the error, SQL Server does not exist or Access Denied, might occur when configuring the Project Properties of a IBM® Rational® RequisitePro® project with database information.

Symptom

The full error message is as follows:

The project named "Name" ("Path to project") could not be opened, because ODBC may not be configured correctly.

ODBC Error:
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][DBNETLIB]SQL Server does not exist or Access Denied.
-Unable to connect to datasource

Cause

This error will occur if the Name and Description fields are edited during the database configuration in the Project Properties.

Resolving The Problem

Leaving the Name and Description field as they are during the configuration of the Project Properties will avoid the issue.
