SPSS Statistics doesn't open and seems frozen on the splash screen



You have installed IBM SPSS Statistics for Windows.  When you attempt to launch the product, you see the 'spash screen' or perhaps the animated Sigma icon in later versions, but the launch never progresses.


Often this behavior is seen after running a Windows Update -- specifically an incomplete update of some kind.

Resolving The Problem

This problem is often the result of an incomplete Windows Update or a corrupted user profile. It is most often resolved by creating a new user profile within the operating system.

To resolve:
1) Apply all pending Microsoft Windows Updates and upgrades
2) Create a new administrative user profile ( Microsoft Support Article)
3) Log in under the new administrative user profile and re-install IBM SPSS Statistics
