Problem
In the online help, SPSS 13 and higher can use 32767 characters in a string variable. But SPSS 13 and SPSS 14 cannot allow over 256 characters in a string variable. If I input 255 characters, SPSS will not accept any more characters. If SPSS imports Excel file that has over 256 characters in a string variable, SPSS cuts the variable at 255 characters. And if I set SPSS columns over 256 characters, SPSS notifies me to set it under 255 characters.
