IBM Support

Spell Check toolbar button not showing on IBM Forms Server in HTML mode.

Question & Answer

Question

This technote describes and explains why the spell check button does not show in the toolbar for forms rendered on the Server and how to obtain the spell check functionality in the form.

Answer

The browser handles the spell check behavior for IBM Forms Server as it renders the form as an HTML page.

Eg, a screenshot from Firefox 3.0.

To get similar spell check behavior with Internet Explorer (IE), you must install a spell check plug-in on the client browser.

One such plug-in for IE is called ieSpell.

After installing this plug-in you will have spell check capabilities on your form via the browser, but you will still not see the Spell Check icon in the toolbar as this is not a product enabled feature--the browser handles this functionality.
