Problem(Abstract)
'Specified user name already exists error
Symptom
An error message popup displays when you create a new user. It states that the Specified username already exists.
Error Message
A popup screen displays with this message.
'Specified username already exists. Please specify different username.'
Resolving the problem
Generally the specific user was present in the system before was deleted (accidentally or by knowledge) but entries remain in the tables for that user. The tables that still might have entries for a deleted user:
- CMGT_USER_CONTACTS
- CMGT_USER_X_FUNCTION
- CMGT_ADDRESSES
- CMGT_PHONES
- CMGT_DEPARTMENT
- CMGT_GROUP_USERS
- CMGT_PROFILE_MANAGER_NOTE
- CMGT_HIDN_ADDR_USER_X_PARTNER
Note: Set the ACTIVE_FLAG in CMGT_USER_CONTACTS table as 'N' when deleting a user. This avoid issues as user_key is used in other tables as well. To make the user active again simply set the ACTIVE_FLAG to "Y".
