IBM Support

Some icons are displayed correctly in iBase Designer, but not in iBase User

Troubleshooting

Problem

When working with iBase V9.0.1, some icons are not being displayed correctly in iBase User (instead of the expected icon, a white disc with a black line is displayed).
On iBase Designer (V 9.0.1), the icons are being displayed correctly.
On iBase 9.0.0 (and iBase 8.9.13), the icons were showing up OK for the same database.

Symptom

This is an example of a test iBase database in iBase Designer 9.0.1 :
image 7159
In iBase user, the same iBase datase is showing up like this :
image 7166

Cause

The Icon Names that are used for the Entity Types that are not showing up use accentuated character (or non ASCII characters).
For example :
image 7167
The icon name here is "Réclamation", wich uses an "é".

Resolving The Problem

You must change the Iconlist.txt file encoding from ASCII to Unicode-16-LE.
To do this, you must use a software that allows you to change a text file's encoding.
For example : Notepad++
