Abstract
Software defined DRaaS using IBM Spectrum Virtualize
Body
Software-defined storage (SDS) is a key component for clients adapting to the modern data center and enable hybrid clouds. By decoupling the storage hardware and software that manages it, SDS empowers the clients to not only maintain the existing heterogeneous storage hardware but also simplifies the management by virtualizing the underlying storage hardware. Moreover, clients can also avail the advantages for data replication and seamless migration between heterogeneous storage platforms.
Disaster Recovery as a Service using IBM Spectrum Virtualize
The solution is built on IBM Spectrum Virtualize software running on Intel x86 processor-based servers at Recovery Site and IBM Storwize V7000 at Protected site (Production site). It leverages VMware Site Recovery Manager (SRM) to replicate between IBM Storwize V7000 and IBM Spectrum Virtualize. The diagram below shows the architectural overview of the environment.
