Problem
The following message is displayed: EPW0402I PRIMARY SYMPTOM STRING FOR PROBEID ISTSSC01 FOLLOWS:
Cause
This specific VTAM probe (ISTSSC01) occurs when a device in the network is not following SNA architecture. During a session setup failure, VTAM sends the device an NSPE (x'010604') RU (request unit). As part of the RH (request header) for this RU, VTAM requests a definite response (DR1).
The device gives a response, but the device/control unit does not supply the SNA header (x'010604') on this REPLY. This condition should not occur and as a result, VTAM generates the FFST Probe dump.
Resolving The Problem
You will need to contact the support group for the device that sent in the invalid response.
