SMTP Server Fails to Start, Logs Message TCP2075 Initialization Failed

Troubleshooting

Problem

The SMTP server fails to start. The QTSMTPSRVD joblog reports message TCP2075 - SMTP initialization not successful.

Resolving The Problem

The SMTP server fails to start. The QTSMTPSRVD joblog reports message TCP2075 - SMTP initialization not successful.

Some of the possible resolutions for this condition are as follows:

1.Correct the host name and domain information in CFGTCP Option 12.
2.Add the fully qualified host name (host.domain from CFGTCP option 12) name to the host table for the main IP address of the system, CFGTCP Option 10.
3.Check *Public authority to the root directory (should have *RWX with all object authorities)
4.Verify that the files QATMIP6ADR and QATMIP6IFC exist in the QUSRSYS library, and verify that the files have proper authorities.
5.Verify the subsystem being used, and that the subsystem description has the prestart job entries for SMTP.
6. If still not starting capture an SMTP server trace of the attempt to start: TRCTCPAPP *SMTPSVR
Attempt to start the SMTP server
TRCTCPAPP APP(*SMTPSVR) SET(*OFF)
Review the trace checking for indications of the source of the problem
