Question & Answer
Question
How do I upgrade Flash on a single SPU?
Answer
An installed SPU has out of date firmware. It needs to be flashed to the correct revision, this document will detail those steps.
This document will out line the necessary steps to flash the firmware on a single SPU. Perform these steps as user nz.
You would update the flash on one SPU if there was a message in the sysmgr.log alluding to a SPU or SFI running an invalid flash version.
You would also receive an event notification for a SPU or SFI running an out of date flash version. Note that if there is more than one component with out of date flash the system aggregates events.
System States: NPS must be in the online, offline or paused state.
SPU State: The SPU to be flashed must be in the spare, inactive, failed or mismatched state.
Here is the command syntax as displayed by the online help for the command:
flash]$ flashSpu -h
Usage: flashSpu -spa <spa_id> -slot <slot_id>
where <spa_id> is the Spa ID for the SPA containing the SPU you wish to
re-flash
where <slot_id> is the SPA Slot number for the SPU you wish to re-flash
Note: SPU cannot be in 'Active' or 'Assigned' role, and NPS system state must be Online, Offline or Paused
Example:
cd /nz/kit/sbin/flash
./flashSpu -spa 2 -slot 2
Historical Number
NZ244229
