Note: Sterling TMS only supportsthe use of industry-standard tariffs or carrier-sponsored tariffsthat are loaded into SMC. Sterling TMS cannot processproprietary shipper tariffs which are not loaded into SMC.

Procedure

To set up tariffs with SMC and Sterling TMS follow thesesteps:

  1. Determine which tariff you will use with each LTL carrier. You must select from tariffs that are supported in the SMC Ratewareproduct.
  2. Negotiate a license with SMC to use the tariff inSterling TMS.
  3. SMC sends Sterling TMS the tariffdata and a letter that authorizes you to use the tariff in Sterling TMS.
  4. Sterling TMS loadsthe tariff data into SMC Rateware.
  5. Sterling TMS authorizesyour organization to use the tariff in Sterling TMS.
  6. When you add or edit a contract section the tariff isincluded in your Tariff list. No other shipperscan use this tariff unless they have also been authorized by SMC.
