Troubleshooting
Problem
The IBM Content Collector Outlook Web Access (OWA) 4.0.1.3 and the older versions involve manual configuration while setting up the Microsoft Exchange server, where the server runs behind a Load Balancer.
Resolving The Problem
The IBM Content Collector 4.0.1.8 Interim Fix 010 offers to automates the process. This interim fix eliminates the need to configuring the files installed on Microsoft Exchange Server, manually.
The following information is applicable for setting up the IBM Content Collector for Outlook Web Access (OWA) where the Microsoft Exchange server is running behind a Load Balancer as well as a proxy server.
Manual configuration scenarios
- To map the entries between the Microsoft Exchange Server and the Load Balancer in the OWA service configuration, on the ICC server.
For details on mappings, see Configuring URL mappings to Exchange servers . - To update the ICCApp.xml for OWA extension on the Microsoft Exchange Server with the Load Balancer host name, instead of the Microsoft Exchange Server host name.
- To update the ibm_config.js file for OWA extension on the Microsoft Exchange Server with the Load Balancer as host name.
This file is not a part of the initial installation; it is generated later by the Apply Configuration utility.

Additional Configuration on Microsoft Exchange Server
Once the installation is finished and configuration changes are completed on the IBM Content Collector Server, apply the OWA Extension configuration:
- Log on to the server on which the OWA Extension is installed.
- Enable the IBM Content Collector OWA apps for Office 2013 (applicable only for Exchange 2013)
- Select All Programs > IBM Content Collector > Apply Configuration
The configuration data that you entered using the Configuration Manager is accessed from the IBM Content Collector web server and applied to the server on which the OWA Extension is installed.
The Apply Configuration also accesses the OWA service configuration to extract the mappings information and updates the Load Balancer URL in the ibm_config.js file. No manual intervention is required to update this file.
Note:
- Any post-installation changes in the Load Balancer / Proxy server host name details can be applied to ICCApp.xml by running the installer again with the updated Load Balancer / Proxy server host name details, or by updating the Host name details in ICCApp.xml manually.
- For the ibm_config.js file, the Load Balancer / Proxy server host name details can always be applied by running the Apply Configuration once the IBM Content Collector Server configuration is updated.
- When you click on IBM Content Collector Add-in in the Outlook Web Access and encounter an error, or the IBM Content Collector Add-in buttons are not displayed, do the following:
a. In Microsoft Exchange Center, remove the IBM Content Collector Add-in and add it again.
b. In Outlook Web Access, disable the IBM Content Collector Add-in and enable it again.
