Setting up cluster for CPU Affinity Scheduling

Question & Answer

Question

How to set up cluster for CPU affinity scheduling?

Answer

Here is the procedure for setting up CPU affinity scheduling.

1. Make sure that the affinity scheduling plugin scmod_affinity is defined in lsb.modules.

      Begin PluginModule
      SCH_PLUGIN RB_PLUGIN SCH_DISABLE_PHASES
      schmod_default () ()
      ...
      schmod_affinity () ()
      End PluginModule
2. Enable CPU and memory affinity scheduling with the AFFINITY keyword in lsb.hosts

3. Specifies whether the host can be used to run affinity jobs, and if so which CPUs are eligible to do so by using the following syntax; Y, N, a list of CPUs, or a CPU range. By default, affinity scheduling is not enabled.

4. Use bhosts -aff to confirm affinity scheduling is enable for each host
