Server time does not change to reflect timezone change

Troubleshooting

Problem

When the timezone changes on the Operating System (OS), the server time does not change to match the OS, even though the ACCEPT DATE command has been issued.

Diagnosing The Problem

This is an example showing the server time cannot be changed to match the OS time.

Resolving The Problem

It is not recommended to make changes to the system time often. This can bring unexpected results to the server operations that use dates, such as expirations.

There are scenarios where the time must be changed such as relocating of the server. The server time can be updated to match the system time. If only the time is changed, you can use the server command ACCEPT DATE to accept the new system date. If the timezone is also changed, you must restart the Tivoli Storage Manager server in order to pick up the new date/time.
